Stone Washed Church

Good article by Andy Crouch in CT. Given our own quest for authentic community I find this encouraging. I think we can testify to the fact that there just aren’t any shortcuts to this destination.

    Loved this article, Bill.

As I was reading it I couldn’t help but think of more examples from today’s American culture that seem to support the hypothesis that we just aren’t willing to wait for authenticity: inflated credit card bills, astronomical divorce rates, partisan politics, you name it.

So I’m wondering. Is this an American phenomenon or is it generational? Or maybe socioeconomic?

The wooden pews and numbered hymns and occasional bake sales really do sound appealing sometimes.
